還記得以前上英文課關係代名詞who, which, that的用法嗎?
是不是常常搞不清楚?我們再次利用課堂講解和以下的練習來複習~
1. 關係代名詞的用法,可當成形容詞使用,補足一般句型的形容詞無法描述的部份
一般句型的形容詞:
(1) She is pretty.
(2) He is a tall man.
一般形容詞無法描述,而利用關係代名詞來當形容詞:
(1) I know the girl who lives next to me.
(中文:我認識住在我家隔壁的女孩。 形容詞用法含動詞)
(2) The girl who lives next to me is studying at my school.
(中文:住在我家隔壁的女孩正在我的學校就讀。 形容詞用法含動詞)
2. 辨識如何區分主要主詞和主要動詞為句子主要的組成,以便區分形容詞子句的用法
3. 練習
(1) I thanked the woman.
She helped me.
==> I thanked the woman who/that helped me.
(2) The book is on the table.
The book is mine.
==> The book which/that is on the table is mine.
(3) The book is mine that is on the table. (Correct? Incorrect?)
(4) I saw the man.
The man was Mr. Jones.
==> The man who/whom/that/ψI saw was Mr. Jones.
(5) We saw the movie last night.
The movie wasn’t very good.
==> The movie which/that/ψwe saw last night wasn’t very good.
(6) The man who/whom/that/ψI saw him was Mr. Jones. (Correct? Incorrect?)
你有注意到形容詞子句修飾的名詞是主詞或受詞的話,差異性在那裡嗎?
4. 進階練習 (形容詞子句修飾接在介系詞後面的名詞)
(1) She is the woman.
I told you about her.
==> She is the woman about whom I told you.
==> She is the woman who/whom/that/ψ I told you about.
(2) We listened to the music last night.
The music was good.
==> The music to which we listened last night was good.
==> The music which/that/ψ we listened to last night was good.
(3) 他住的那棟大樓很老舊 (5種寫法) (which, in which, that, where, ψ)
==> _____________________________________________________
(4) 我將不會忘記遇見你的那天 (5種寫法) (which, on which, that, when, ψ)
==> _____________________________________________________
5. 常用與不常用的形容詞子句用法補充說明
(1) USUAL:
I like the people who live next to me.
LESS USUAL:
I like the people that live next to me.
(2) USUAL:
I like books that have good plots.
LESS USUAL:
I like books which have good plots.
(3) USUAL:
I like the people ψI met last night.
USUAL:
I like the book ψI read last night.
6. 所有格形容詞子句的用法(whose…)
(1) I know the man.
His bicycle was stolen.
==> I know the man whose bicycle was stolen.
(2) The student writes well.
I read her composition.
==> The student whose composition I read writes well.
(3) Mr. Cart has a painting.
Its value is inestimable.
==> Mr. Cart has a painting whose value is inestimable.
